Union, NJ – Patrick Wildridge, Paul Davis Restoration office owner and spokesperson for Paul Davis Restoration’s New Jersey owners group, announced today that the New Jersey restoration company has completed course work and certification in the growing field of home assessment and modification. The course called CHAMP, an abbreviation for Certified in Home Assessment and Modification Professional, is designed to provide contractors with information that will enable them to provide services in the workers compensation home modification market.
According to Wildridge, course attendees must be licensed general contractors in good standing with local and state agencies. Paul Davis Restoration offices from Union & Essex Counties, Central New Jersey, Southern New Jersey, Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties, Ocean County, Monmouth County, Northeast and Morris County were certified in July and now have a better understanding of workers compensation, claims, insurance carriers and other parties involved, physical disabilities, functional abilities, medical necessity, medical terminology, environmental barriers and home assessments for the disabled.
“In order to be designated as a CHAMP certified contractor, attendees must complete the entire two-day training course and pass the online exam. Course designers and facilitators from David Corey Company Inc., conduct a background and reference check and request proof of license and insurance. Some of the coursework included a workers comp and standards overview, common workers comp diagnosis, and communicating with the medical team,” said Wildridge.
“Paul Davis Restoration owners from throughout the state of New Jersey, studied design and construction of ramps, landings and walks, doors and halls, elevators and lifts, and accessible bathrooms and kitchens. The final study session included a round table discussion and instruction on how to utilize the CHAMP certification and services within the workers compensation industry,” he said.
